INFORMATION ON CLASSES. All Classes are taught by Melissa Smith unless otherwise specified. For more detailed information, see the FAQ and this series of articles that I wrote on Tai Chi and Qigong.

Beginner's Tai Chi
Tai Chi is a great tool for releasing stale tensions while developing a better relationship with your body. Learning it challenges coordination and concentration, and helps initiate a host of healing responses. It is a form of meditation, and it helps condition the body so that stillness meditation practices, should you wish to do them, become easier and more comfortable. This class offers step-by-step instruction in the Tai Chi set. It's the place to start if you've never tried Tai Chi, and works as a refresher if you've learned before. Our Tai Chi set is a 108-form.

Continuing Tai Chi
This class is for people who have already learned the Tai Chi set and want to work on their art on an ongoing basis and receive individual instruction. You're welcome to attend these classes as long as you have familiarity with the whole Tai Chi set. You don't have to have it memorised.

Lok Hup Ba Fa / Liu He Ba Fa
This is an advanced form of internal martial art. It's rarely taught but is enormously valuable. I offer advanced and detailed instruction in the entire set. If you'd like to learn Lok Hup from scratch, watch this space for when the next set of classes will start, or inquire at smithmk2@gmail.com

Qigong (All Levels / Beginners Welcome)
In many ways, Qigong forms the foundation of Tai Chi, and is its own form of self-healing and meditation. Qigong consists of simple exercises that build strength, increase flexibility, and help reset your body and mind to their naturally relaxed and happy state. Unlike Tai Chi, Qigong is not a martial art. If you're pressed for time, and not sure you can attend classes consistently, or if you're dealing with a health challenge or stress overload, this is the class for you.

Tai Chi Review
This is a class for any Tai Chi student to gather and practice what they've learned. We'll start the session with Beginner's content and move on to the whole Tai Chi set. After that, we'll spend the remaining time practicing more advanced forms. The review class will include instruction in these forms for those who would like to pick them up a little bit at a time.

I teach six different internal martial arts (Tai Chi, Lok Hup Ba Fa, Hsing-I, Sword, Sabre, and Pa Kua). I teach them on a rotating basis. If you're not familiar with them but want to learn, don't despair: they'll make it onto the roster in due time. By request, I'll also offer this content in workshop format.
